It started as a normal day,
Playing basketball in town.
Little did he suspect, that day,
Outside of a hospital he'd be shot down.
He lied there in the alley,
Friends and neighbors pleaded to the ER.
He was soaking in his own blood
But that adjacent alley was just too far.
One man carried him,
And only then did he recieve some care.
But a single busted aorta
Proved too much to those who didn't dare.

A poem I did for class, based on an article detailing how a kid was attacked in an alley right next to a hospital, and the no one from the hospital was allowed to leave to get him. I'll have to see if I can find the article and link it.
